(“Retainer Donator”)

Beginning March 1st  2009, Carter Orthodontic patients will become “Friends of the Foundation” by donating the cost of their first lost retainer to the Smile For A Lifetime Foundation. The entire replacement cost will go to the Foundation and the “Retainer Donator” will not only “Share A Smile” with a patient less fortunate than themselves, but will also receive the tax deductible contribution to the Foundation. A true “Win-Win” proposition. Carter Orthodontics challenges all orthodontic offices in the CSRA to offer the same to their patients. It will be a great way for all orthodontic practices and patients in the CSRA to “Share A Smile.”

Smile For A Lifetime Foundation

Carter Orthodontics is proud to announce the formation of the Smile For A Lifetime Foundation, which is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides free orthodontic care to individuals who may not have the opportunity to acquire orthodontic treatment. It is our mission to create self confidence, inspire hope, and change the lives of children in the CSRA in a dramatic way. The gift of a smile can do all this for a deserving, underserved individual who, in turn, can use this gift to better themselves and our community. The Smile For A Lifetime Foundation is governed by a Board of community leaders who evaluate, on a case-by-case basis, orthodontic and financial needs of referrals to the Foundation. The Board will meet quarterly to select six (6) individuals who have financial challenges, special situations, and orthodontic needs. We provide two (2) free orthodontic treatments per month, twenty-four (24) cases per year. This treatment is provided pro bono by Carter Orthodontics, an approximate $150,000 donation per year. The Foundation actively seeks Donors and Partners to help defray the costs of media and administrative services, as well as any adjunctive dental care these patients may need. Anyone can recommend applicants — parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, school counselors, ministers, dentists, hygienists, and children’s advocates – by visiting www.carterorthodontics.com and downloading an application. The website also provides helpful guidelines to the application process.

Tooth Replacements – Dental Implants

Dental Implants – Video

Here is a great video showing how dental implants are done. Dental implants have come a long way over the years and can be used to replace missing front and back teeth. Think of them as ‘artificial roots’ that will then have crowns (caps) placed on top of them. It’s the next best thing to have real teeth again!
